WHAT we do ?

We advocate for fair, neutral and independent information.

-We produce information material, downloadable brochures and information video can be found on our homepage. A wide variety of information resources, courses and clinical cases can also be found in the media library.

-We have carried out our own research study : Mastectomy in France, see analysis of the study.

-We have an educational activity and we engage in the training: educational action.

-We review, relay, summarize, comment and simplify all the most recent publications of the medical and science press in order to make them more accessible.

-We write articles on the multiple aspects of this topic. Indeed breast cancer screening affect the medical area, but it is also a feminist and feminine, philosophical and anthropological subject, as well as an economic, social and, unfortunately, commercial issue. We explain the little known and counter-intuitive concepts inherent in all screening, such as over-diagnosis, the most frightening outcome of mass screening. Our papers outline the conflicts of interest of the different parties involved in the screening process. A special section “opinion column” is devoted to the reflection of our toxicologist, Dr. Annette Lexa, who has an original extra-medical and epistemological view of the subject.

-We participate to workshops, interviews, public debates on the issue of screening and
respond to various invitations to attend conferences, medical meetings or training
sessions.

-We write various articles for conventional and medical media to uncover the scientific controversy that has been going on for more than 20 years, and to relay the studies and writings of whistleblowers.

-We reply to the press, particularly during the month of October, but also beyond, when we are asked to do so.

-We carried out field activities and demonstrated our disagreement at the start of the “La Messine” race with banners and flyers distributed during the race on May 1, 2016.

-We reply to your requests made on the contact page.

Cancer Rose is also a newly founded non-profit organization whose mission is to support the action of our team, to which it is possible to adhere. https://cancer-rose.fr/soutenir/

Cancer Rose may offer lectures to interested groups of students, to the general public or to health professionals, and the presentations will be indeed, adapted to the applicant audience.

History of Cancer Rose

Cancer-Rose is a French non-profit organization under the presidency of Cécile Bour, Radiologist, whose mission is to inform women of the benefits and risks of organized breast cancer screening by mammography.

Cancer Rose Collective was founded in 2015 in response to misinformation and following October Rose marketing campaigns encouraging women to have screening mammograms, without providing them complete, objective and independent information on the risks and benefits of breast cancer screening.

Several doctors from Formindep (a French non-profit organization that advocates for doctors training and information independent of pharmaceutical industry) decided to found the collective and to take action in order to ensure that each woman receives independent and unbiased information, so that she can, in conscience and with full knowledge of the facts, decide for herself whether or not to get screened.

In 2015/2016, the collective participates in the citizen and scientific consultation organized by the Minister of Health Marisol Touraine, whose conclusion was the request to stop mammography screening in its current form; the citizens also requested that the information provided to women be independent and impartial.

The group has therefore created this website along with a free information brochure, a short leaflet and several videos. All this material is present on the home page of the site, and more importantly, all documents provide scientific references and well-identified sources, whose aim is to provide the most loyal, objective and complete information possible, containing points of view on all aspects of screening.

At the beginning of 2021 the collective creates in parallel the website in English to inform internationally about its activities, make connections and exchange points of view on the controversy concerning mass screening for breast cancer, with women and professionals outside France.

Since its creation, Cancer Rose has produced information material such as brochures, videos, posters, intended for both women and health professionals, the group has also participated in several national and international conferences, published on its website syntheses and analyses of international studies to make them accessible, carried out its own study on mastectomies in France, questioned the authorities, published opinion pieces, responded to the press (see “actions” page and “press” page), supervised thesis of medical students and a midwife, and above all answered many questions and provided the necessary support to women requesting it via the contact page.
